Garage show! wee!

March 28, 2013 § Leave a comment

Heyo, what better way to celebrate the springy weather by getting shitty with 40s and partying at somebody’s garage?

Here’s the details I was sent:

We’re throwing a garage show on March 28th at 740 Palmer Street.  Kinda far on the Northside.  Bands playing are King Elephant, Billings ska band Farley Moore, Idaho Green (also comprised of a few Billingsites), The Whiskey Hooves, and P.D. Lear.  Starting at 7.

See y’all there!

**For any “authority figures” who might read this, I’m sure that everyone will be of age and leave well before any noise ordinances kick in.

garage show Thursday!

March 27, 2013 § Leave a comment

I haven’t heard anything about this show except an email I got, BUT if you look at the show calendar (on your left!!) there is some info about a garage show tomorrow (Thursday.)

That is to say, I haven’t seen a Facebook event for it, and King Elephant is playing the VFW that night, so I have no idea what’s going on with this. If anybody does know what the plan is, kindly alert me in comments or email.

Party on,

K. Dubs.

Needlecraft get weird

March 24, 2013 § Leave a comment

Hey. I’m alive. Sort of. Buried with a ton of other duties. But Weird Missoula wrote some stuff about the apparently killer Needlecraft release: “If you weren’t there then you obviously have no idea how dangerous it is to let a pack of hunks get their hands on a full bottle of baby oil, or how hilarious tropical drinks can be, or how absolutely killer it is to overhear so many different people talking about how they can’t wait to run up and buy one of Needlecraft’s LPs.” And you should go read it.

Show at Zombie Tools tonight

March 18, 2013 § Leave a comment

Last minute announcement, because I just heard about this: Koffin Kats are playing Zombie Tools tonight.

From Zombie Tools’ Facebook:

“Don’t forget, Missoulians. Music at Zombie Tools tonight! The music will start at 8pm with Swamp Ritual, followed by Detroit psychobilly sensations The Koffin Kats, and finished off by King Elephant.

1909 Wyoming Street, Suite 9. Just down the street from Westside Lanes.

Donations encouraged, BYOB.”

King Elephant are playing too.

It’s St. Patty’s day I guess whateverz

The longer I’m out of college, the fewer shits I give about St. Patty’s Day.

However, I still give all the shits about live music! At the VFW tonight, country fellas Sam Platts and the Kootenai Three play with King Elephant and somebody else. I think it’s either a cheap cover or free.

Be responsible!

Some words on RVIVR

March 17, 2013 § Leave a comment

RVIVR’s new album, The Beauty Between, is out now on Rumbletowne Records for download. Wee!

In the Independent, I wrote a bit about it: “Melodic, catchy, inspiringly fast and anthemic, while keeping a certain amount of grit, the album makes me want to tear off my jacket and jump into the nearest sweaty pit by the second song.”

And what I touched on in my short review, but didn’t have the space for, was discussing that I’ve heard a lot of shit talk about the RVIVR members. Joe Briggs also says what I feel: “Me, I probably agree with them on like 97% of the shit they believe, and while they may seem to be abrasive arseholes a bunch of the time, if I didn’t listen to music made by abrasive arseholes I wouldn’t listen to anything really.”

Enjoy!
